Review: It was wonderful! My kids got into the story and were shocked that the family kept moving tables. I also partnered students up and gave them 8 square tiles like the book. The created as many different table arrangements as possible, then recorded the perimeter of each. Great way to explore perimeter.

Bought for a job interview during which I had to do a lesson about area and perimeter. In the event I didn't use it, as it would have taken too long (my lesson was only 30 minutes), but it is a good book for teaching children about area and perimeter whilst making them think - it doesn't just 'spoon feed' it to them. I am now saving it for a full-length Maths lesson and will definitely use it. I would estimate that it is suitable for KS2: a high ability Year 4 class or Years 5 and 6 or even Year 7.

What a fun book to read for my perimeter lesson! I was able to have the students participate throughout the book and start to figure out what would happen next mathematically.

The text was boring, and the illustrations too busy & distracting for young students to focus on the Maths concept idea . We had more fun moving tables around and testing out the concepts in reality.
