I'm oiling them now. Nice! Lavish and durable.
These cutting boards feel quite lavish and durable. With Bamboo cutting boards you need to treat them like you would a cast iron skillet and just like a cast iron skillet, you'll see incredible durability when you treat it right. If you don't oil your bamboo cutting boards, they have a tendency to crack and peal and they will most likely not last that long. When you oil them up, they last longer and will save your knives as well.To oil your cutting boards, put about a quarter size drop of mineral out on it and smear it around with your hands or a paper towel. Make sure you coat the full side of the board and the edges and then repeat this with the other side of the board. Once you've finished, the board should feel slippery, but it shouldn't be dripping everywhere or you went too far with the oil. Set the board on the stove's burner and when all boards are oiled, wait for them to soak up the oil. After all the oil is soaked up, put more oil on and repeat that process until the boards will no longer hold any more oil. (It should take about 1-2 hours or more for the oil to absorb. The more oil you put on them, the longer it will take.) When the boards are still full of oil after about 5 hours, you want to wipe off the excess oil with a paper towel and put them away.

Very Pretty But Nothing Special
These are lovely cutting boards but I do have a few issues. First, one came with a long split. Usable but not a good sign. Then I noticed they really are no less vulnerable to knife cuts, as advertised , anddo not have the natural antibacterial properties of other wood boards. Also, oiling them is a MUST since they dry out easily. I will not return them but I would not buy them again, unless for serving since they are beautiful and would make cute snack trays.UPDATE: I have had these for a couple months now and need to warn you. They are very prone to warping. I hand wash them and set them up to air dry, then oil them as instructed. Even so, the big one has warped pretty badly. I would suggest you hand wash and then towel dry and immediately oil. Sounds like a lot but its not so bad. They seem to clean easier than other wood boards, drying takes a second, and I simply pour a blob of olive oil on one dise and use a paper towel to oil both sides.

What you see is what you get
They're cutting boards. You cut food on them. You wash them. You put them away. That should be the end of story, but these boards come with instructions and require monthly maintenance. The instruction are simple enough: do not to soak them and do not to put them in the dishwasher. Would be nice if I could, but hand washing a cutting board isn't too hard. These bamboo boards do look nice and they're very light weight so I will say that for them. The instructions also asked that you use a certain oil on them once a month to preserve their quality. Having to maintain a cutting board beyond washing it after every use seems ridiculous to me. Again this is simple upkeep, but I happen to think a cutting board shouldn't require any directions or upkeep at all.

May work in humid climates, but can split otherwise
The two larger sizes split along the glue lines - first just the handle part, then the entire board. Returned once, but the same thing happened with the replacements. To be fair, I've only used them in a relatively dry climate (New York during the winter time) but not bothering to try these again. Too bad since I've had good luck with other bamboo products and good luck with other cutting boards that are joined strips of wood, but perhaps I'm just not meant to have both in one product.Just to clarify on some obvious questions: 1) The above happened within weeks of purchase, with gentle, daily usage. 2) Hand-washing only, no automatic dishwashing. 3) No odd usage such as soaking, using heavy cleavers to butcher whole hogs, or practicing karate chops.Reason for two (rather than one) star is that I assume in a more humid climate they may hold together better - otherwise I can't really imagine someone would sell a product that falls apart! Also, first time I returned was a very smooth process - not bothering to do it the second time.

Quality boards, quality price
Initially, I was concerned about buying this set because the price was so low so I thought they might break easily. However, we have had them two months and have followed the rules of not letting them soak in water and drying them immediately after washing them. We use them daily, and they have not begun to show any signs of warping. They seem to be in the same shape as when we got them. I think this was a buy well worth the money! The only reason I gave them 4 stars was because they were slightly smaller than I expected, so make sure these are the measurements/sizes you want.

So-so quality!
This item was purchased for a gift but after receiving it I had a change of heart as the boards were not great quality. First off 2 of the 3 boards had large irregular areas that absorbed the stain so that it appeared as if these boards were not 1st. quality. Since I decided to keep them I have used them and they do the job but they do not and never did look like the ones pictured. They are rather thin and due to their imperfection definitely weren't worth the money. I actually found better quality bamboo cutting boards at Penney's for less money.

Not Bad, Went Back to Hard Plastic
These cutting boards were...ok. They lasted for a few months but then started to splinter; I don't know if there are specific cleaning instructions that are needed since they're bamboo but i wound up going back to a sturdy plastic set. These may be more durable if special cleaning instructions are needed but I wouldn't go back to them myself.

Nice set for the money
These cutting boards are made with quality construction and do not mark up much, even with very sharp knives. You will want to maintain the boards, as instructed by the company insert, to maintain the aforementioned quality regarding knife marks. Overall I believe these will last years. The only downsides are no liquid-catching groove and the size (the largest is still a little small for me). The boards aren't much thicker than 1/4", making them easy to handle, but prevents adding a liquid-catching groove to at least one side of the board. Again, overall these are quality boards worth the money spent.
