Samsonite Luggage Lightweight 2 Piece Set, Black/Red, Set

This was the perfect luggage set for me. I am a teacher and I travel rather a lot. The larger of the two pieces is your carry on piece for the airplane. It fits perfectly in the overhead and is, itself, very light weight. There are handles all over it, so that it is easily removed from the overhead. The handle is sturdy and the rollers are very smooth. There are many pouches with which to store all of the necessary items, and plenty of room inside for a few days worth of clothes etc. This is the perfect case for a trip lasting two to five days time, depending on your own packing habits. I tend to travel fairly simple, so it works for me. If you carry everything but the kitchen sink, well…. I can put everything I need, including toiletries, running shoes and workout clothes, professional clothes, a book and my computer easily with room to spare. The smaller piece is a laptop bag. I'm a teacher, and this piece is perfect for me to store all of my supplies I need for the day; including my laptop, books, handouts, general supplies and lunch. It is lightweight and the rollers work perfectly. This piece would be perfect for a teacher, or anyone who travels to a couple of locations everyday, but still needs to have certain supplies with them. It would also be perfect for a quick trip requiring a plane flight. Say the trip was only for the day, but you don't want to show up looking like an amateur. This would be a great piece to allow you to have everything you need, and still have that professional appearance.

As other reviewers have stated - this is a set of two different sized pieces of carry-on luggage. You can't take them both onto an airplane yourself. That said, it is perfect for a parent and child set. My six-year old easily managed the smaller case by herself through several airports. FYI - the handle on the small case has enough positions that is can be lowered for a child or extended so that a six-foot male can easily handle it. Both cases are light and maneuverable. However, it should be noted that very maneuverability can be both a pro and a con. With four independent wheels, these cases will easily swivel through the tightest airplane aisles. However, they also tend to take off in random directions on escalators if you don't pay close attention. Also noteworthy, and a nice touch that doesn't exist on my other suitcases, is the convenient handle between the wheels. In this day of crammed overhead compartments and flight attendants repeating robotically "Wheels pointing OUT please, or we can't shut the bins", its nice to be able to have an easily-reached handle with which to pull your bag down (particularly for us short folk who can never reach the "regular" handles when the suitcase is oriented wheels out). When traveling is done, it takes a little bit of work to "nest" the two cases. But, the smaller case does indeed fit entirely inside the larger one, thus reducing the amount of space needed when storing the cases between trips.

This set includes: 15 Inch Spinner tote 21 Inch Spinner Positive: High quality fabrics used, attractive design. Light weight, may be the lightest in this category. Price, just for the brand I would not pay more than $150 for this 2 piece set. Negative: Except the bag on its own spinner, no other base have any support to ground. If you just slide the bag other than spinner, you may damage the fabric. Ideally it should include an additional base support which can protect the bag from the surface touching ground. The zipper puller is non metal, so you have to put a lock through the non metal puller which can easily be damaged by a small utility knife. I would say, if only you are going to handle the bag through the journey like, as an carry on, or as a office laptop bag (tote), you are fine, but it is not good for using it as a heavy duty bag.

This is one of the best rollie bags that I have EVER purchased so far!!! For instance, with the type of wheels, it easily rolls down a thin airplane aisle without you having to pick it up. Also, in almost all airplane overheads, it fits in the overhead which is a plus. It is the exact same size as a rollie bag but just in a different design. A lot of the flight attendants try to tell me it is too big for the over heads but I like proving them wrong! : ) Also, because it does fit in the overhead, I do not have to wait in the jet bridge for them to bring me my luggage at the end of the flight…I stroll right by them while they all wait! : ) I am not sure how sturdy the wheels are (I have had it for about 6 months so far) but even if they did not hold up, I would buy another one in this exact style and dimensions. The only other thing is that I fly regionally a lot and there was only one style prop plane so far where I could not fit it in the overhead….sorry I do not know the plane type. But other than this one plane that I rarely encounter, it fits in the overhead of all/most other prop planes.

The bags appear to be well made and Samsonite tag said 10 yr warranty. I liked the style. Smaller sized bags but I bought mainly for our children so they would have been perfect. However I read a review in which the person said the bags have a tipping over problem. So first thing I did was load up the larger bag (it is expandable, but I did not even use the zipper to expand). Sure enough the bag was barely touched and it was tipping over very easily. Not worth what I feel will be a lifelong hassle.

I am a petite 5' 2" and hate traveling with a regular size carry-on. I normally end up stuffing it to the point that it is too heavy for me and almost impossible fitting it into the overhead compartment. This time I decided to make it easy for myself and my daughter. I took the regular size carry-on piece as the check-in luggage and the little one as my carry-on. Traveling could not have been easier: these set of luggage is light and sturdy and was able to fit the smaller piece under the seat (with difficulty) but had no problem fitting it into the overhead compartment. Whenever I had to pick up the check-in luggage I was able to carry both with not problem since the little wheels have spinners and they will turn with little effort. At some point while walking through airports I let them sit straight, slightly touched the handles and just pushed them! Hallelujah! Another plus I discovered is the fact that the handles can be pulled and set half-way (I preferred it this way since I am short) or all the way. In all, I would totally recommend this set and might consider purchasing another one.

They are of good quality and nice look. But the larger one, although claimed to be a carry-on, measures almost 25'' including wheels. The carry-on limit of most airlines is 22'' including wheels. I don't want to risk being challenged and forced to check it in. Plus, the larger one's handle has only one segment, while I prefer those with two segments so that I can put my handbag on top and grab both. Have to return it.

To be honest, I haven't actually used the luggage yet. However, I have examined it carefully and it looks sturdy and attractive. It seems well-crafted and the fabric looks practically indestructible. I bought this set on the advice of my son. He showed me his luggage, which looked new. He travels every week for business and told me it had been on 37 trips (air), including being pulled over NYC, Boston, etc. streets. He also told me the price was great. He bought his on sale and got just the larger piece for the same price as the set on Amazon. Highly recommended.
