like me, I'd size down half a size
Got these looking for a day hiker, overnight fast-packing shoe. I bought this pair after originally buying size 11 on sale from another vendor. I am size 11 for my running shoes (asics and brooks) and most other shoes, but will occasionally be 10.5 based on the brand (chuck taylor's, patagonia). For those in between sizes, like me, I'd size down half a size. The way the lacing system works, they don't come up high on the top of the foot, so if your shoe is too large, the heel slips a lot. I have a normal to narrow width foot. These fit well in the heel through the arch. The toe box is roomy, but my feet aren't swimming and it feels good as long as the length is adequate. These only took one wear to break in reasonably and you could probably break these in on a day hike and get away with it. I really like the rubber rand for foot protection. To me, it doesn't make sense to buy a gore-tex low top because gore tex lined shoes breath less well and if it's really nasty out, I'd go with a boot. This shoe is also too low to keep water from coming over the top for a deep stream crossing. I'm just going to put some nikwax on the leather for extra weather protection in the mean time.

Snug ridged not for daily wear
I figured the lte vs would be more sneaker and less mountain I was wrong very firm rubber very ridged. Back to drawing board

Good fit, good durability, worth the money.
I wear size 10.5 US in shoes and an 11 in boots. This shoe has a roomy toe box, fits my foot comfortably and doesn't slip or rub.The little cleats on the lacing are an excellent touch. The treads pick up mud but shed it easily.Otherwise, it's just a good shoe for energetic outdoor activity.I've been wearing their shoes and boots since 2007 and I'm a true believer in Salewa. They take quality seriously.

Great
All right, they do require a little break in. A few miles with moist socks should do it, or walk in some wet fields for a while. After that they fit great. Even out of the box they are great, however just a bit stiff. The fit is right, lacing possibilities are great and they have great support. I compare a lot of shoes to the Scarpa Mojito and these are in a way better because these Salewa's have a nice thick Vibram Sole. They are great to walk around the cobblestone streets in Europe, to do some intermediate hikes in rolling hills, or just for everyday wear. They could be "prettified" a bit, to make the look a bit less sneaker/hiker like, as to "fit in" better socially in Europe when going to dinner. (That is kind of pushing the limits of the shoe) For the rest, they are just a great shoe.

Best shoe ever made hands down
Best shoe ever made hands down. Will outlast any other shoe or boot on the market other than logging boots. If you have ever owned L.A. Sportiva footwear, these are the same quality at a better price. Buy these with a nice pair inserts and your feet will be in heaven. 8 months in and no tears or stitches undone. The rubber will not separate from the fabric like most other shoes\ boots you have owned ( you all know what I am talking about) Stylish and rugged? what more do you need? I am like a woman when it comes to my shoes and these are the best out there. Salewa, you have a customer for life!

Quality made but too much heel room
Great warm weather intermediate-advanced hiking shoe. I put these to the test for a week on the rocky, rugged trail in Big Sky Montana and they didn't disappoint. The treads are great but I found myself sliding around too much in the heels. Maybe the newer models have addressed this issue? The shoe size was accurate. It's a moderately heavy shoe as well and they are not naturally hydrophobic. So I'd recommend waterproofing them before hitting the trails. This will make a big difference.

my everyday shoe
Yeah, maybe it weird that I would wear a shoe like this everyday as a regular shoe, but I like how it keeps my foot snug. I have regular feet (not abnormally wide or skinny). I wear a 8.5 and purchased a 8.5, the fit is perfect. It is easy to put on, the tongue stays centered. The construction looks solid and of high quality; it looks like these shoes will last a long time. I haven't hiked in them yet (only had them a week) but I do wear them all day and they are comfortable. They also look real cool.

Salewa MS MTN Trainer
Looks:Look great even after multiple long walks through muddy forests with the dogEasy to clean and brush up very quicklyAbility:They do not have the best grips and have had a few moments when i thought that these are not the best for hiking, but you should consider full-on boots for that. These are fine for general good structured shoes for normal walking dutiesComfort:They are very well built and give at the correct points without loosing any structural integrity during walking which i consider to be the best part of the shoe.would have given 5 if it were not for the sole design being almost completely horizontal.

Gorgeous approach Shoe
Looks good, stiff sole, vibram grip. Serve you well on most mountain approaches and decent for some technical section or scramble grades. Found them heavy though, like an old Volvo, solid. If you’re a ‘fast and light’ heat head maybe look elsewhere. If you want some reassurance and longevity though, these are it. Done a few grade 2 scrambles with em in the uk and they have been great. I did however use them in the wet, and wasn’t overly enamoured with them on slick limestone, nearly took a few headers 😂. hoping it was because they were brand new. Good quality overall tho

but first impressions are good. Well made
First pair owned, but first impressions are good. Well made, light, comfortable from the start with no wearing in necessary. Excellent two stage insert/footbed.
