Pleasantly surprised!
I purchased two of these bays for a Mac Pro case mod - I wanted something that didn't take up too much space, but would provide hookups for 2 x 2.5" drives, and this fit the bill. QUALITY/DESIGN This really is surprisingly well-made for the price, with a mostly-metal construction. The tray-less design is simple yet effective, and the eject mechanism is among the best I have seen - you simply unlock the front tab and pull out! The bay comes with two 3M stickers to help avoid electrical shorts through the metal cage - a nice thought, although not so convenient for those of us that switch drives often. I think a thin plastic coating on the cage would have been better! The dual-color LEDs are not too bright, showing blue for power and a pinkish-red for drive activity. The bay boasts a 50,000 drive insertion rate - hopefully I will NEVER get close to this figure, but it's nice to know it was built to last. Included are two power adapters that go give power to your SATA drives and have a 4-pin connector to power the bay. They are standard molex connectors, not SATA, so keep this in mind when choosing the bay. The key lock feature is nice, but something that I won't use. FUNCTIONALITY Not much to say here - I plugged in the power and SATA cables and each drive was recognized without issue. As far as I understand, these support SATA3 speeds (seeing as they are simply providing an extended connection), and my boot drive (Mushkin SSD) is running at around 250MB/s which is just about right for that drive. OVERALL I chose this bay because it was cheaper than others, but I'm actually very pleased with the overal quality and design. I have added a customer image of one of these bays "in action", so you can see how unimposing these bays are. A great way to add 2 x 2.5" drives to your rig, and highly recommended! Now to swap out the LEDs without ruining the thing...

Good quality product
Purchased to use in the 3.5" boot drive slot in a Corsair Obsidian Series 800D. The mounting brackets do not line up with the plastic slide rails for the case. The holes seem to be aligned to fit the 3.5" bay for floppy drives. It would be perfect if there were more mounting holes so that it would fit any configuration. Outstanding quality and very happy with the unit itself. I decided to use a converter to mount into an available 5.25" slot and it works great. Very solid feel to the doors. For use with the SSD cards that I am using there is no need for the plastic insulators. Those are only if you are using the laptop sized HDD cards. I found that all the connectors and construction are tight and solid. I feel good about the quality. CONS: not enough to take away any stars There is no power switch. This isn't a major problem but it is a nice feature that I have on one other hot swap dirve. Mounting brackets for mounting to the rails in the bay don't align with my case. It worked fine with the converter so I don't think it's an issue with the product. PRO: Why I give it 5 stars Great quality with a very sturdy feel Looks good with my tower case and latches are easy to use Works great with SSD drives which is why I purchased it Easy to install using a standard 3.5" to 5.25" conversion tray

A Nice Piece Of Electronics
This is a well constructed drive bay for 2.5" drives. It worked perfectly with my SSD drive. It is easy to open and remove or replace the drive. It does have a locking key but locking with the key does not make any electrical connections so if you don't worry about accidentally opening the door the key is not needed. I mounted this in a larger opening on the front of my computer. It would be nice if it came with the larger rail mounts and a face plate for larger openings. Fortunately I had what I needed in the junk box. I would buy this again as it works well.

Works well, but they should have insulated the bays
This is a very nice SATA hot-swap, dual-drive rack that fits into a 3.5" floppy disk bay. It uses notebook drives, of course. I currently have 2x640 GB WD drives in there in a ZFS mirror on my server, and it's working well. The unit seems sturdy and well built. It should last a long time. My only gripe is that they supply you with 2 insulating stickers that you place on the drives to keep them separated from the metal shelf in the tight fitting bay. These stickers have a strong adhesive that will likely be very difficult to remove and re-use if I ever have to replace a drive. It would have made far more sense for KingWin to insulate the internal bay than to supply these stickers. At the very least they should have supplied a few extra. Overall I'm happy with the unit. It works well, and the silver on black color matches the Thermaltake 3.5" racks I already have ( Max 4 HDD 3.5" Sata Rack ). Note that while they do have standard SATA power connectors on the back, they come with SATA to 4-pin Molex adapters for the power, and these are required since they supply power to the rack itself. This was a plus for me, since I built my server using an older case/PSU that had no SATA power connections. For others it could be an issue.

Great device, but may need a bay converter
This is a nice little well-constructed device to hot swap two 2.5 drives like notebook hard drives or SSSs. I am using it to hold my main OS drive so I can easily swap out the system's main hard drive. It's working fine with my Intel 180GB 330 series 6 Gbps SSD. The device is powered using older 4-pin molex power connectors that convert to SATA power connectors with a split for a small device-specific power connector that probably powers the LEDs on the device. Perhaps you can just plug in a straight SATA power connector if you don't want or need the LEDs. The negatives for me are: * Uses an externally accessible 3.5 in bay which I didn't have in my Corsair 600T case so I had to purchase a 5.25" to 3.5" bay converter and this significantly increases the price * Installation was a bit more complicated than expected But overall a very handy device worthy of 5 stars.

Works wonderfully
I've had this unit for several months now and I've never had a moment's trouble with it. Once installed you just use it knowing you can rely on it to do what it was designed to do. Speaking of design, it is well constructed of mostly metal and durable plastic. The little doors open and snap closed easily without much force. It also comes with a little key that enables you to lock either compartment if you wish. I use this unit to house my boot SSD drive and to insert other SSD drives as needed, just like you'd do with a USB flashdrive (or zip or floppy drives, remember those?). I also bought a similar item from a different brand but that other one was less well constructed and was a lot fussier about opening & closing it. This one is a keeper!

Work with SATA II only.
1 - Solid and nice looking. It will not work if you connect to a SATA III port to a SATA III SSD, however, it is backward compatible with SATA II port. 2 - Only one connector for the front power LED while there are 2 bays for the unit. I ended up returning this product and order this: Vantec 2.5-Inch Dual Bay Trayless SATA III - 6G Mobile Rack (MRK-225S6-BK) Which has the same look and design, 2 power connectors for front LED and will work with SATA III.
