Canterbury vs Gilbert Review
So I bought a pair of medium and large. Honestly they feel the exact same. The waist band of the larges may be 2mm bigger. I wear a size 32/33 waist and think the larges fit best. Truthfully, the size difference is so insignificant if they only had a medium in the color I wanted, I'd get the mediums. If you're considering saving $10-$15 by buying the Gilbert's and play as a Forward, DON'T DO IT. The Gilbert's are great sturdy shorts, but are not made for men with larger legs. I couldn't raise my legs without the front of the shorts grabbing and pulling back against the front of my thighs. This will slow you down while running and could cause chafing. Now you ask, how are the Canterbury's any better? The entire crotch is made of a durable stretchy fabric as well as the outside edges of the leg holes. This stretchy fabric gives guys with larger legs, glutes, and hip flexors the ability to lift those trunks without resistance.Additionally, the waist band has rubbery grippy material to keep these shorts situated in one spot on your waist. They don't move a hair. I can't speak for the lifespan of its grippiness after a few washes, but out of the box it's amazing. (Btw, this is another thing the Gilbert's don't offer).Lastly the inside pocket for your mouth guard is perfect, and unlike the Gilbert's there are no outside pockets. This is great because you don't need your teammates snapping fingers in your pockets during practice.Don't make the mistake I did and buy the Gilbert's. I believe they're nice basic shorts, but the Canterbury's and actually designed for rugby.

High quality shorts
These shorts are really well made, they wash really well and are a thick material. They hold up during play and have been through many matches and washing and still look great !

Great Shorts.
These shorts work perfect not only for an avid rugby player but training shorts as well. The waistband is very forgiving and unlike a lot of rugby shorts these are not cotton. They are a strong but stretchable material. I am a rugby player and have had these one whole season now and they are still in great condition. I would recommend these shorts for all rugby players as well as anybody that is training for any sport and wants a durable and comfortable short. As far as sizing I'm 5'11" and weigh 215 lbs. I fit great into a large. A fore warning they are rugby shorts so they are short to allow the legs to move freely. They hang about mid-thigh but they are not embarrassingly short by any means. I would buy these shorts again in a heart beat there just very comfortable and look great.

No Pockets?
No pockets on these shorts. They seem well built, fit well, and I like the sticky material around the waistband to help keep your shirt tucked in. But no pockets? How can you have proper rugby shorts without pockets? (And, no, the tiny interior pouch doesn't count!)

pitch or pavment these are great shorts.
great practice shorts that fit well enough to wear out on a summer day. the quality of the material is great and the fit is comfortable, I have a 29" waist across the widest part of my waist and the Medium size fit comfortable. they are a little big in the butt, but I am trying to build my leg mass so that might be a good thing. The grippy waist stays put under pressure and I am not having to always pull the shorts back into place. I am glad they don't have pockets to hold dirt and grass. The gusets in the crotch add a feeling of free movement, as well as improved venting. THe kiwi graphic is quality and always a great touch.

Perfect for backs.
These shorts are one of the best shorts ive used for rugby. I'm a 19 year old women and shorts are pretty much found only for guys such as these but these ones fit great! As a back they aren't tight or rough like what many forwards or atleast jumpers have to use and do not restrain you from running. i run much better in these shorts and theyre comfortable.the elastic grip inside is definitely useful though i am short so i normally roll up the shorts so they arent too long. as well i love the inside pocket for mouth guards. i find i don't lose them as easily.

Meh.
Meh. They are a bit too long but since I needed shorts for the upcoming match I kept them. I just rolled the waistband up a few times. I don't recommend these shorts. They'll do but, not worth the money

I will never wear anything else to the gym
I can't say enough good things about these shorts. Received today and wore to the gym, hands down the best athletic shorts I've ever worn. Super heavy material, stretchy crotch, rubber banded waist to keep them from slipping, 4" inseam, they are perfection. I'm 5'10, 230lbs230lbs, wear 38x30 Levi's and these fit perfect and stop exactly mid-thigh. I bought these for cross training (crossfit) and they're just what I was looking for. I am going to buy more pairs and plan on never wearing anything else to the gym.
