Just got this lame and it is way better than my previous lame. It comes with several replaceable tips which makes it long lasting. It is very sharp and makes cutting bread easier! The handle is thick, easy to hold. It comes with a leather case for storage which is nice but would prefer a child lock function as it is so sharp! Great price for the quality!

I got this to score my sourdough bread. It literally is perfect for the job. It comes with extra blades! It is small in size and fits in my drawer perfectly! It does not weight a lot and comes with a cover so it is safe during storing.

This really upped the quality of my breads in terms of appearance! I feel like the extra ridges adds much crunch factor as well. SUPER sharp, and the setup was very intuitive as I tensed the blade correctly the first time. It's very sturdy on the hand, though I do not like the blade protection. It's a leather sleeve??? I think it should be in a plastic case because anyone can accidentally hurt themselves. I suggest anyone to put it in the back of a cabinet where no one reaches for it, or blade down in a container.

I held back from buying a good lame until I found that my family would not do without my homemade French baguettes. I used scissors for a long time and even my sharpest knives did very poorly at scoring loaves so I finally broke down and bought a lame. That lame (not this one) was amazing at first. Then when it came time to change blades, my own limitations (very old, very bad eyesight and very clumsy fingers) made it worthless.So I bought this very basic lame. No frills and all the works evident at first sight. I'm totally in love with it. The blade is easy to install. I know this because the unit arrived without the blade but it was included so I had to put it on myself. It slices a loaf like there's no tomorrow. Oh my gosh! Love this bread lamé knife! I have wanted one for the longest time to score my Sourdough loaves with. What I was using before (a sharp knife) can not hold a candle to this blade! It cuts so clean and smoothly and I can score it in any number of ways. I typically do a snowflake pattern but today I tried doing a flower (3rd picture) and I think it turned out wonderfully! Sooo excited to own a good blade/knife for scoring my sourdough with! Totally worth the purchase... just sorry I didn't bite the bullet sooner! And to think I thought my "sharp knife" was doing an okay job. Ha! This blade is awesome! Plus I love the small little leather pocket thing to put it in when not in use. It is so cute and keeps the blade from being out. It is very sharp afterall! (And I hold the extra blades you get in something else.) If you are a Sourdough baker don't short change yourself! This and a good Dutch oven are *everything*!

Exquisitely crafted but unfortunately, it holds the blade at such an angled curve that it is hard to expertly slice the sourdough before baking. At least we haven't got the hang of it yet.
