Stumpwork Butterflies & Moths (Milner Craft Series)

This author presents her work in an exemplary manner and gives the reader a thorough understanding of each butterfly and moth in the book. Who knew a moth could be so very colorful?! In my mind This edition could qualify as a coffee table book for sure. The exceptionally fast arrival of this book is much appreciated.

Another beautiful stumpwork book by Jane Nicholas, and xcellent for embroiderers looking for a challenge. Like most of Jane's project books, it helps to have a little understanding of basic embroidery techniques before launching into the projects Stumpwork Butterflies & Moths. This particular book is very readable - with lots of interesting tidbits on butterflies and moths, it makes a nice coffee table book. Non-embroiderers who are interested in nature should find it fascinating, too.

Jane Nicholas is a terrific author and teacher of stump work techniques. I have virtually all of her books and each are even more helpful and detailed than the last. I will continue to buy any books she puts out on the subject and wish she were available to take her classes here in Montana. Terrific details and hints about this art. Love her work!

Jane Nicholas does beautiful work! There are tons of diagrams and pictures in the book to walk you through the steps. I tried to take her class for the project on the front cover at the EGA National Seminar last year, but I didn't get in. I was SO excited to hear that it was going to be published in a book.

Absolutely beautiful book with lots of pictures and great instructions!

I am just getting into stumpwork and bought Jane's Beetle book and loved it. This one, though, is even MORE spectacular! The photography shows amazing detail. The instructions are very clear and detailed. Makes me want to stay home from work and just start creating these butterflies.

This book is beautiful and inspiring with history and instruction. The photos are clear and easy to follow. I am a beginner to stump work but not to needlework, so the book was good for me. I may not recommend this to total beginners in needlework.

Gorgeous, gorgeous book. If you have any inclination to do this type needlework, or if you just want a beautful book to enjoy, you will like this book. Exquisite work. Her books are always wonderful.

Another beautiful book from Jane Nicholas. The quality of the stitching and the realism of the butterflies are superb. It's like looking at art.

「Dragonflies」「Beetle　Colection」に引き続き昆虫シリーズですが、まさにこの方の真骨頂といった感じを受けました。色鮮やかな蝶たちが並ぶページはまるで標本箱のような感じです。リアルさもですが、デザインやステッチの選択が作り手のオリジナリティを表現しています。最初は18種の蝶や蛾の単体の説明。後半に花や果物と組み合わせた作品4点、最後にステッチの解説が図解入りであります。自分でこれを再現できるかと言えばかなり難しいのですが、持って眺めているだけでも価値はあります。またこの方のステッチの完成度の高さは、アップの写真でわかります。作品の実際の大きさを知るとなお驚きます。糸のよれ、毛羽立ちがほとんど見られず、技術力の高さにまったく驚嘆するばかりです。刺繍をする者として理想の完成形です。
