My tortoise loves his new housing!
I bought this for my russian tortoise who loves it! He has become much more friendly and enjoys digging around and going up and down his ramp. He also loves the house and sleeps in it nightly. It was easy to put together as the instructions were really clear! The only thing is you need a power drill to put the screws in. I also recommend not screwing the the house/ ramp part and middle mesh cover part in for ease of cleaning. As the directions point to drilling them to the base structure, which if you do, cleaning will be impossible. I still give it 5 starts because it actually allows for the tortoises to feel safe, secure, and provides plenty of room for them to walk around. Its sturdy and safe plus really cute looking. Absolutely recommend this terrarium to anyone with a smaller tortoise!

Please read. Made some mods and I’m very happy with it.
As other reviewers stated, the ramp is an issue. The biggest issue. The way it was “intended” left a large gap where the torts little legs/toes could get caught. It was also at a significant incline/decline and basically became a fast slide, that caused a collision with the wall at the bottom :( (Our twins were not injured. I learned this from another review here that has a video of the ramp being used by a tort. I did not slide our torts down the slide.) The final issue I had was the lack of texture or grip on this (previously) problematic ramp for our tiny things. *I added some scrap pieces of pine and rocks with non toxic craft glue, so the little dudes could use the ramp as a ramp, not a party slide. Sort of like a rock climbing wall. And I raised the lower end of the ramp with more scrap wood, so it’s not as steep. *Then I used picture hanging hardware to attach the ramp. It removes easily, but secure enough that it can’t be accidentally knocked down by Fred and George. I then wedged some rocks in the minor divot that remained. I could have left it as it was, but they deserve to be extra. ;) The access to all parts of the habitat was definitely weak, so I found a work around. *I didn’t screw down the Penthouse to the bottom level. It sits there perfectly fine w weight and gravity, and does not compromise the integrity of the habitat. Not “securing” it allows me to lift it off when I clean the lower level, without having to reach my T-Rex arms under said Penthouse. *I didn’t screw down any of the tops actually. I used strong magnets on each top piece. This allows me, or my son, to readily access every part of their new home. ((To be fair, we tried it the way the directions said to do it. Simply put, I don’t have the arm reach, nor does my son. Even my 6’3” hubs was contorting so as not to knock the roof flaps off. Not ideal.)) The magnets are the perfect solution, in our opinions. All of these mods were very simple, and inexpensive, which still makes this a great purchase. Future mods: *I plan on adding a bracket to the bottom of the habitat so that the tray can be pulled out and rinsed as needed. The tray does not currently slide out. It is fixed in its position. (This is the only mod that will be a little time consuming. The others were fast fixes.) *I am adding an arm to hold a set of lights above the Penthouse, and another arm for a set of lights where the ones in the picture are currently located.

The bottom of this cage is plastic, but the second level is particle board.
I got this cage for my baby Red Foot Tortoise to have as an outdoor turnout. He loves to climb around in his current tank, and I'm excited to see him go through to the different levels. It was super easy to put together; the instructions were great, and the parts were very well organized. The only problem I foresee is that the upper level is made out of particle board; which will not last super well outside. It also might be a little difficult to clean out the lower level. The video that is shown in the ad is a little misleading, as it shows the house being easily lifted off of the plastic bottom. Truthfully, you have to screw the house onto the bottom in order to put the cage together.

It’s “okay”.
It was okay, not easy to build at all. It took us well over an hour because pieces did not align. It’s going to be hard to clean. Right now my baby red foot tortoise walks all over, it is spacious. I would definitely had passed on it had I known what it was like to build prior. I gave it three stars because it’s cute and sturdy when built.

IMPROVMENTS 10/10 TORTOUISE
I read through all the reviews before purchasing this product. I decided the modifications suggested by another customer was worth the overall purchase. HOWEVER, there were what seemed to be some modifications that solved 2 major issues. The ramp had two significant problems. The ramp gap at the top and the lack of stability/traction for criters to keep a grip going up the darn thing. That being said, I was happy to see some modifications that I believe solved the issue. The ramp is no longer attached using hooks but rather hinges keeping it flush against the wood. They also added a rubber matting on the ramp, adding a non-slick surface for traction. There are still some things that could make this product even better. Having more access to the inside of the enclosure would make interacting with the animals easier. And cleaning easier. We left both the roof areas unattached and most likely will be getting some more hinges to allow us to open/close wire section without issues. Another issue was the smell of chemicals when opening it. I highly suggest letting it air out before trying to assemble. I also ran across wet glue while assembling. Other than that, I love the product. The slight tweaks you may need to make for it to do what you want is worth the overall price. I suggest reading all the long reviews. And keep in mind the ramp issue seems to be resolved.

Garbage design
It’s impossible to clean as designed and the tray, which cracked almost immediately, doesn’t fit in the bottom.
